Some unknown band from Scotland named GUN released a straight-ahead hard rock album that had more roots in the Seventies than the dying Eighties era for its day, if you passed on this album, you missed a great “road rage record”. “Gallus” was their second album released by A&M on March 31, 1992. Singles “Higher Ground” and “Steal Your Fire” respectively reached on the top of the British charts. The album peaked #14 on the Official UK Albums Charts. The albums cover shows Benny Lynch, renowned Scottish boxer from Glasgow, he achieved international fame during his career and continued notoriety after his death in August 1946. When the Rock History is written by the whiggish winners, Gun will probably be relegated to a mere footnote, but their presence at a time in my life when everyone was selling out to become mainstream darlings in the USA was a welcomed relief. PLAY IT LOUD…
