The previously unheard Miles Davis Album “Rubberband” recorded as soon as he signed to Warner Bros Records, ultimately will be released in its entirety September 6, 2019. In 1985 Miles began recording the album and was set to be his first album for Warner Bros after leaving a long standing with Columbia. That record was ultimately shelved and his first album for Warner would be Tutu (1986) leaving these sessions largely unheard until now. Completed by the original producers Randy Hall and Zane Giles, this record marked a radical departure for Miles, looking forward as usual and incorporating funk and soul grooves in his work. Miles plays both trumpet and keyboards on the album and was joined in the studio by keyboardists Adam Holzman, Neil Larsen and Wayne Linsey, percussionist Steve Reid, saxophonist Glen Burris, and Wilburn Jr. on drums. Featured on the album are Lalah Hathaway and the R&B singer Ledisi, who guests on an alternate version of the title track.
