Gong return with “Unending Ascending”, a curious peep through the telescope that takes the listener on an ecstatic voyage to witness aural supernovas explode, galaxies die and clocks reset. From the star spangled oceans of the cosmos to the salty sea bottom. The ever metamorphosing entity that is Gong launches, as ever, into unknowing territory with a new album and tour, destined to be talked about, discussed, and argued over, up and down the land. Gong’s musically diverse world includes shades of psychedelia, space rock, jazz, avant-garde, krautrock and surreal soundscapes.

From its beginnings in a French commune in 1967, through the Virgin Records years, mismanagement, court cases, break-ups and rejoining, deaths and rebirths there has always been a continuous thread of beautiful, dangerous and extraordinary music. The current holders of the flame have come together over the last seven years, sinuous bass player Dave Sturt, Ian East, Fabio Golfetti, Kavus Torabi, Cheb Nettles. “Unending Ascending” was recorded and mixed by Frank Byng at Snorkel Studios, produced by Frank Byng and Gong, mastered by James Plotkin and Mandala design by Daevid Allen.
